You pull back your pool cover to find the water has turned from that beautiful clear blue to a swampy green that does not entice you to go for a swim. Have no fear. A green pool simply means that algae has taken over and begun to grow in your pool. Before the pool is safe for swimming, it will need to be treated professionally to make sure all the algae is out and the pool water is safe to go in.
Algae can grow in the pool in couple of different ways. One way is that is grows suspended in the water which is what makes the water look cloudy, and everyday it will become cloudier, this it’s because algae doubles every 24 hours. Think of its growth is like a bacterial cell.
Another way it can grow is just on the walls and floor of the pool, this is where the water stays perfectly clear, but all the algae has started to grow on the walls and floor. Both ways must be treated differently. Usually when live algae is on the pool floor or walls whether it’s green, black or grey, it won’t vacuum up.

Full Diagnostic
First we will do a full diagnostic to see why the pool went green in the first place which includes checking the equipment, environment, algae, water chemicals and water quality.
Special Treatment
We then start the first part of the special treatment which will kill the algae and control it.
24 - 48 Hours
We then come back within 24-48 hours to do the second part of the treatment which removes all the dead algae out of the pool.
Flush the Pipes
We then flush all the pipeworks out, clean out the filter and cleanse the whole system. We make sure that every bit of that algae is out of the pool and system, so it won’t come back.
Check the Chemicals
We then recheck all chemicals & equipment and reset the system and timers.
